We are launching a fundraising campaign to establish the Gee Vaucher Art Foundation — and we need your support.
Our mission
One of the most important British artists of the last fifty years.
Now in her eighties, Gee Vaucher's core output of paintings, collages, montages, sculpture and prints has remained largely within her possession, reflecting her anti-commercial ethos. While many first encounter Vaucher through her iconic visual work with Crass, her significance extends far beyond that.
Throughout her career, Vaucher has consistently challenged power, questioned social norms and used art as a tool for resistance, compassion and change. Her paintings, collages, montages, sculptures, prints and films have explored war, inequality, gender, consumerism, environmental destruction and the human condition with a clarity and fearlessness that remains as relevant today as ever.
Three strands to the mission
To ensure that Vaucher's body of work remains whole, accessible and safeguarded for future generations — available for public engagement, education and inspiration.
To find a permanent home for the Foundation to house and display Vaucher's body of work.
For these premises to continue the legacy of radical creativity encouraged at Dial House, famous as the home of the band Crass, where Vaucher and Penny Rimbaud continue to live.
Alongside safeguarding Gee Vaucher's legacy, the Foundation will invest in the future — commissioning, exhibiting and supporting new generations of artists whose work continues the tradition of challenging power, questioning convention and imagining more just futures. Together with the ongoing stewardship of Dial House, the historic open-house in rural Essex founded by Vaucher and Penny Rimbaud in 1967, this will establish a lasting institution where historic and contemporary radical voices can meet, inspire one another and reach new audiences.

Claire Brenard
Curator, Imperial War Museums
A curator specialising in art relating to war and conflict, mainly involving Britain and its former empire, from the twentieth century onwards. She has researched and written about the history of IWM and its world-class art collection.
Jonathan Corbett
Experience Designer
A user experience designer with over fifteen years' experience understanding the goals of people in large organisations. In 2016 he founded the consultancy Norman & Sons, providing user research, design and application development.
Lisa Meyer
Artistic Director & CEO, Capsule
Co-founder of the arts organisation Capsule in 1999 and founder of the internationally celebrated Supersonic Festival. She is the visionary behind Home of Metal, the heritage project celebrating Birmingham and the Black Country.
Marie-France Kittler
Curator · Commissioner · Cultural Producer · Churchill Fellow 2024
A highly-skilled arts professional with over fifteen years' experience working across public, private and commercial contexts. A curator and producer expert in context-specific commissions and participatory programmes, with special interests in multi-disciplinary partnerships, unexpected cultural experiences and working in the public realm.
